How can I compare Lady Macbeth to Julia Gillard to show that Julia Gillard is the exception in a modern day society?

Unlike Lady Macbeth, Julia Gillard is a leader in her own right. Lady Macbeth influenced her husband, and any power she had was through her husband. It's hard to say exactly what motivates Gillard, but she has the ruthlessness required to be successful as a political leader.

Well, she did sort of assassinate Kevin Rudd back when he was prime minister, but that doesn't really show that she's an exception today, it just shows that she's a politician.  And besides, Rudd got her back recently quitting as foreign minister without even telling her.

I don't quite see what you're trying to do here.  Are you trying to say she is like Lady Macbeth or not?

Perhaps her allies were the "faceless men" ?
