One way to kill microbes in the home is to wipe elements, gadgets, and such that you use frequently with some type of disinfecting solution, then rinse thoroughly. This would include door handles, telephone receivers, remote controls for your TV, counter tops, computer keyboard and such that you and others use quite often everyday in your home environment. Examples of disinfecting solutions you can use would be disinfecting sprays or bleach available in supermarkets, both of which must be rinsed off followed by a drying.
Another way to kill microbes is through thoroughly washing clothing and chair and couch covers, pillows, and sheets on a regular basis. It's especially advisable to do this when someone is sick in a household, to get rid of bacteria/germs that can embed into these items form the sick person due to coughing, sneezing and such.
