I know this is plagiarism, but what should be done to fix the problem. Felicia’s brother Reuben wrote a senior project a few years ago on the same topic that she has chosen. Felicia has a job, and her friend is in the hospital, and her classes are really difficult this semester. She decides to take her brother’s paper, retype it, put her name on the top, and turn it in. How do I fix this problem?

There are several things that Felicia can do, and you can suggest these alternatives to her.
First, she can use her brother's paper as reference. This is a valuable start, because she can gain some ideas into the topic. So, if she agrees with her brother's thesis, then she can write a paper of why she agrees. This can be a very good paper, if she structures it in this way.
Second, Felicia, after reading her brother's paper, might disagree. If so, then her paper can be about why she disagrees with his thesis. This approach, too, can be a great paper.
Third, since some time has passed, she can see if this passage of time has done anything to the cogency of the argument. These suggestions will get you started.
