A jug was 60% full of water. After 20% of that water is removed the jug contains 192 ml. What is the maximum amount of water (in ml) that the jug could contain.

Let us say the volume of the jug is V.

It is said that 20% of the 60% filled jug was removed. That means `0.2xx0.6V ` is removed. So the remaining is;

`(1-0.2)xx0.6V = 0.8xx0.6V`

 

This `0.8xx0.6V` is equal to 192ml.

`0.8xx0.6V = 192`

`V = 192/(0.6xx0.8)`

`V = 400`

 

So the volume of the jug is 400ml.
