Jam and Sam are standing on an insulating platform and holding hands when they are given a charge, Jam is larger than Sam. Who has the larger amount of charge, or do they both have the same amount?

Ordinary materials contain as many positive particles as they have negative particles, hence they are neutral. Only when electrons begin to accumulate (or are extracted) from a body, do electric charges develop. Standing on an insulating platform and holding hands, when Jam and Sam are given a charge, both acquire equipotential status.

As Jam is larger than Sam, he can accumulate (or supply) greater number of electrons while charging and as a result Jam should carry greater amount of charge in his body. Their bodies will possess equal potential though, as they are connected by holding hands.
