"If there's just one kind of folks, why can't they get along with each other? If they're all alike, why do they go out of their way to despise each other? Scout, I think I'm beginning to understand something.  I think I'm beginning to understand why Boo Radley's stayed shut up in the house all this time.it's because he wants to stay inside."

Jem comes of age, and loses his innocence during the trial and the ensuing plot developments.  This quote shows he understands that people are people, and that the adults in his town who are judging folks based on color and class really don't understand.

To #3: Jem thinks Atticus is an old man since Atticus will not play football in the church league. In fact, Atticus is not particularly old; however, he does know his physical limitations. The view of Atticus as an old man who cannot really do anything is also seen in the Ol' Tim Johnson shooting incident, as well.

Maybe the movie atticus is in better shape than the book atticus so age is not always understood through birthdays. My aunts name is lori and I think she would agree the movie is 50% garbage.

Compared to the book yes, it is lacking most of the plot it disappointed me when I wastched it in class.  Then again, if there was as muchdetail in the movie as the book it would be about 8 hour or more

Jem always desires to have understanding of a situation leading him to be “full of superior knowledge" (112).

(chapter 11 before part two and the first time Jem and Scout go to read to Miss Dubose)
