Topic: Desiree's Baby
I'm writing an comparison/contrast essay on Chopin's "Desiree's Baby" and need some points which I can Compare and Contrast.
I am comparing and contrasting two characters: Desiree and Armand. I have thought about comparing their background or marriage. I need at least three points. Thanks. :)

The characters Desiree and Armand (from Chopin's short story "Desiree's Baby") both react differently to the knowledge that their child has African American blood (or "the race that is cursed with the brand of slavery" as stated by Armand's mother in a letter to his father). This could easily be one point which you compare and contrast the couple.
Another point of comparison would be both of their reactions to the slaves at L'Abri. Both come in contact with slaves in the text. Both also treat the slaves in similar and contrasting ways (at one point or another).
One last comparison that you could make between Desiree and Armand would be the how each regard the importance of a name. Armand was very happy given that he could provide Desiree with a name given she was adopted. The narrator states: "What did it matter about a name when he could give her one of the oldest and proudest in Louisiana?" Therefore you could look at what a name meant to each.
