It seems to me you have to think about both the consequences of thinking before acting and acting without thinking (or with little thought) on a conflict in order to address this essay prompt. In The Crucible you have plenty of conflict and plenty of characters who encounter it. So now the question is whether they chose to think before acting or act without thinking. Make a list of those characters and their actions and their consequences--such as John thinking long and hard about going to face the court because he knew he'd have to admit lechery if he were going to effectively accuse Abigail; going to court and making the accusation; getting thrown in jail for witchcraft. Making such a list will help you make a case for both sides of your essay prompt and give you all the examples you need to support your thesis.
