"and the wild boys as innocent as strawberries" strawberries suggest that the boys are sweet like a strawberry

"in the fountain basin where i sailed my ship" sailed my ship can be seen as a form of freedom as you are able to move from place to place. freedom is the thing that the hunchback does not have
