The South has changed in many ways since the end of WWII. Let us look at three changes.
- The end of segregation. This was brought about in the 1960s and has changed the social fabric of the South to the point where there are African Americans moving back to the South today.
- Rising prosperity. The South is still the poorest region of the country, but it has become much more industrialized and more prosperous as firms have moved to the "Sun Belt" to find lower costs.
- More cosmopolitan population. The previous two factors have helped make the South more cosmopolitan as many people have moved to the South from other regions of the country.
