One way that the them of human inhumanity to human is expressed is through the treatment Beatrice received when she was at school. She was teased and made to feel terrible because the other students thought of her as an outcast. This treatment illustrates one group's or individidual's loss of respect for the human dignity and intrinsic worth for another individual or group: it illustrates human's inhumanity to humans. She is caused to live in isolation because of this inhumanity.
