In any empathy question, the most important element is to fully understand the character or situation with which you are being asked to empathize. Based on the tags within the question, you are being asked to approach a situation from Kulfi's point of view. Empathy questions are challenging because you have to place yourself in the situation of a specific character. In doing this, you have to fully understand the character, their motivations, and their particular reaction to a situation. With this case, the why would Kulfi feel the way she would upon seeing Sampath in the guava tree? From this point, you need to construct a response that details her feelings, why she feels what she feels, and explore her reaction to the situation and her character's background that would enable her to feel the way she does.
Empathy questions like this one demand that you "get into" the mind of a character. This would be one potential approach in answering the question. Fully delve into Kulfi's characterization, her past, and the impact that his has on her. From here, it should become evident as to her response to the situation, an answer that shows your level of empathy with a particular character from a text.
