How much is the Mona Lisa worth?

I don't really know if there is an actual price because it is not for sale. If there was a major offer in the past, or a purchase attempt, I would like to know.

The Mona Lisa (or La Gioconda/La Joconde, or Portrait of Lisa Gherardini) is one of the most renowned pieces of art today. On a side note, many believe the painting to be larger than it actually is (it is a "half-portrait" and measures 31 inches by 21 inches).

For some, the Mona Lisa is considered priceless. This comes from the fact that the actual piece cannot be made again. If it is ever lost, it will be lost forever.

Outside of that, the Mona Lisa was deemed to be worth $100 million US dollars in December of 1962. Based upon this number, the Guinness Book of World Records has named the Mona Lisa as having the highest insurance value of all paintings in the world.

With inflation calculated, the Mona Lisa (today) would be worth about $768 Million.

The room in the Louvre (the art museum in Paris), which holds the Mona Lisa, was built at a staggering $7.5 million dollars. The Mona Lisa is the only painting in the room.

Essentially, when looking at the value, nothing better states the value of the painting than words of Estelle Nadau of the Louvre, "The Mona Lisa is inestimable. She belongs to the French state,
which is its own insurer, that is the reason why she is not insured."

I think that it would be about $6.4 million It is a very expencive picture of a lady that supposably was famous. Some people think that she wasn't even mona lisa. People are still trying to find out who she was. 73% of America thinks she was a person who has a stage act name. But 22% of America thinks that Mona Lisa is a actual person with the name Mona Lisa.
