The two main ways that prejudice, discrimination and ethnocentrism affect workplace communication. First, they can lead to misunderstandings. Second, they can lead to lawsuits.
Diversity in the workplace is a fact. All employees should be trained on antidiscrimination laws, and all of these behaviors should be nipped in the bud. An employer can be sued for a hostile workplace. In addition, no person should be treated with prejudice or discrimination, or be the outcast in an ethnocentric workplace.
People from different cultures will often have stereotypes about each other. It is important that the workplace is kept a safe environment where people can practice their religion safely and not be targeted for their race. People should be made aware that they should not make assumptions about one another.
