Cyclohexane, C6H12 exists in many conformations since it has bonds that are movable. It exists in planar, chair, half chair, twist boat and boat conformations.
Each of the conformation is due to different interaction of the carbon atoms with one another. They can be gauche, staggered or eclipsed with one another.
For planar, all are in eclipsed state. This conformation is extremely unstable.
For a chair conformation, all of the carbons are in gauche state.
For boat conformation, there are two bonds that are in eclipsed from and four bonds in gauche form.
For half chair, there are four eclipsed and two gauche forms.
For half boat, there staggered bonds present.
