How has Gilgamesh changed at the end of his journey and what is his greatest accomplishment in The Epic of Gilgamesh?
1 Answer | Add Yours
Gilgamesh's journey was the journey of the human experience. His life experience led him on the path to desire the knowledge of his purpose in life. As Gilgamesh lives through the trials and tribulations of his experiences he comes to understand that one does not have to attain immortality to be remembered. By the end of his journey Gilgamesh has realized that what he thought were his regret and failings actually led him to find peace within himself. In other words Gilgamesh's greatest accomplishment is acceptance of self, something that only comes with the wisdom of life experience.
