Though light is an essential element for the process of photosynthesis but excess of light may cease the process of photosynthesis.

As because the chlorophyll present in the leaves are ligth sensitive and excess suturation of light would destroy the chlorophyll and will cease the process of photosynthesis.

(light is absorbed in small fractions knwon as photons.)
