How did Russia overturn its conservative policies (political, social and economic)?

During the 1800-1900 time period?

Russia was a serfdom at the beginning of the twentieth century, and Tsar Alexander abolished the serfdom soon after but Russia was still mostly imperialist. This imperialism continued to the 20th century, when the Russian Revolution took place.

Czar Alexander II freed most of Russia's serfs in 1861:

However, the real changes in Russian society, economics, and politics didn't take place until just after your time period, during the Russian Revolution in 1917.
