What is progeria and the causes for it?
1 Answer | add yours
Progeria is genetic disorder that leads to rapid aging in children. This ailment is not spread from one person to other and though it is caused by a mutation in the genes it is not a disorder that is passed down from the parents to all their children. Only a small number of people are affected by this disorders and it is very rare for more than one sibling in a family to have it.
In people suffering from progeria, the aging of the body takes place in the same way as that of a normal person, only the pace at which it takes place is very fast which leads to children showing symptoms normally associated with the elderly like wrinkled skin, baldness, failure of body organs, etc.
