In "Treasure Island," Pew was old blind beggar. Pew was also a pirate. Where his character went, death seemed to follow. Pew goes to visit Billy and not long after Billy dies. Pew is killed by a horse. In chapter five, "The Last of The Blind Man,' Stevenson writes:
"Just then four or five riders came in sight and swept at full gallop down the slope. Pew heard, turned with a scream, and ran straight for the ditch. He fell down, but got quickly to his feet and made another dash. In his confusion, he ran directly into the path of the nearest rider. The horseman tried to avoid him, but in vain. Down went Pew under the hooves with a terrible cry of despair."
