Edgar Allen Poe's wife's name was Virginia Clemm. She was his cousin and he married her when she was 13. She died of tuberculosis in 1847.

Lenore was the name of the narrator's dead wife in "The Raven." The poem doesn't specify how she died. The poem was published in 1845.

Edgar Allan Poe never married a woman named Lenore.   His only marriage was a secret one, in 1834, to his 13-year-old cousin Virginia Clemm (they later married publicly).

Poe seems to have liked the name Lenore, however, because he used it to refer to a tragically dead woman in two of his poems: Lenore (1843) and The Raven (1845).

Both of these poems were written before Poe’s wife died in 1847, but in early 1842 she had showed the first signs of the tuberculosis and Poe was very affected by her illness.

The death of a beautiful woman is a frequent theme for Poe.  He lost many women in his life in addition to his wife.  His mother died of consumption when Poe was only 2.  Poe went away to college for a year, and came home to find that his sweetheart had married another man. He then lost his foster mother when he was 20, and may not even have known that she was dying.

Edgar Allan Poe 2A's in allan not allen by the way.

He never had A wife named lenore her name was in fact Virginia Clemm his cousin. Many women in his life had died tragectly, since a very young age he watched his mom die on stage (she was an actress) as she played the role of romeo and juliet. His mom died of tuberculosis and same with his wife but his foster mom died of brain problems. In many of his story's he uses the color red alot for death and in many of his writings people believe that the red and how people die is of tuberculosis.

FUN FACT: many story's of his he has cats die but he owned many cats and he enjoyed them as his pets.
