The Islamic conquest of the iberian peninsula boosted the speed of development in that area. The spaniards who were suffering the cruelties of the visigoths, were eased under the Muslims. Spain became a center of knowledge, culture and trade in Euroupe. Spain flourished a lot and produced marvellous cities like Cordoba which were a sign of civilization and magnificent architacture and education. The development rate in Iberia was the fastest under the Moors.

Muslims were one of the most advanced nations at their time. When they conquered Spain, Muslims already had much technology. They brought their technology with them. And so, developments started in Spain.
