Let x represent the actual distance we are looking for.

We will construct the following proportion then use the cross multiplication method to solve.

`(1 cm)/(12km)=(2.1cm)/(x)=>`

`2.1*12=1*x=>25.2=x`

Hence the actual distance is 25.2 km.
