I have to write an essay on Piggy for the first 3 chapters of Lord of the Flies. What should I write about?
I need notes on:
-his physical appearance
-his reaction to the island
-his reaction to the fire building incident
-Jack's animosity toward Piggy

Piggy is an interesting character. His physical appearance and actions seem to contrast his intellect. Nobody can have it all right?
Piggy is the natural target and butt of all the jokes of the boys, however, he is also the most likely to have ideas that will help the boys be rescued. Unfortunately he has little ability to assert an agenda on anyone else. He has no charisma or charm to persuade the rest of the boys to follow his lead.
You are asking a bit too much in one question, so in brief I will address your bullet points. His physical appearance reveals his physical weaknesses and lack of self-confidence. His reaction to the island reveals his longing for adult influence. The fire demonstrates he has something to offer the group, and Jack's treatment of him from the beginning foreshadows a future for Piggy of being continually picked on.
