graph the linear system by completing a table

-x+2/9y=1

9x+3y=6

### 1 Answer | Add Yours

The linear system consists of the following equations

-x + (2/9)y = 1 ...(1)

9x + 3y = 6 ...(2)

-x + (2/9)y = 1 => y = (9/2)*(1+x)

9x + 3y = 6 => y = (6 - 9x)/3

The table:

x y for (1) y for (2)

1 9 -1

2 13.5 -4

Now plot the equation by a line through the points (1, 9) and (2, 13.5) and plot the second graph by a line through the points (1, -1) and (2, -4). The point of intersection of the two is the solution of the linear system.

**The solution of the system is (-1/3, 3)**
