If x = 999 999 999 999 we can substitute into the simplified version to get the answer. First factorize:

`(x^2-4)/(x-2)` becomes`((x-2)(x+2))/(x-2)`

because `x^2-4`  is a difference of two squares. Now simplify. Note that the`(x-2)`  will cancel out leaving `(x+2)`

`therefore 999 999 999 999 +2 = ` 1 000 000 000 001``
