Function word problem help.

The number of households in a certain community is given by h(t) = 1.26t^2+7800 households t years after 2001. The proportion (expressed as a decimal) of the households in this same community that have DVD recorders is given by p(t) =0.663 / (1+3781e^(1.875t)) t years after 2001.

(a) What does C(t) = h(t)p(t) represent?

I believe :

**C(t) is the number of households in a certain community that have DVD recorders, (t) years after 2001.**

But i kind of thought about it and isnt that what r(t) is? Can anyone help me shed some light on this question

I have no idea what you are referring to by r(t).

C(t) is the number of households that have DVD recorders after t years. This is definitely true.

It follows from the fact that h(t) = 1.26t^2 + 7800 is the number of households in year t. p(t) =0.663 / (1+3781e^(1.875t)) is the proportion of people who have a DVD recorder in year t.

The product of the two C(t) = h(t)*p(t) is the proportion of the total number of households that have a DVD recorder. This is nothing but the total number of households that have a DVD recorders.

**C(t) is the number of households in a certain community that have DVD recorders in the year t.**
