The formula h=-16t squared+s represents the time (t) that it takes an object to fall from a certain height (s) to an ending height (h). Cont. below

The question is "How high was a cliff if a coin dropped from the cliff took 2 seconds to hit the ground?

### 1 Answer | Add Yours

s = initial height

h = ending height, in this case ground therefore h = 0

t = 2 sec

h = -16t^2 + s

substituting values, we get:

0 = -16*2^2 + s

0 = -64 + s

s = 64 units

**The height of cliff = 64**
