Finding The Vertex?

How would I find the Vertex of this equation?

3x^2-12x+16

that's a quadratic function. the formula for a quad. function is 

y=ax^2+bx+c

 to find the x-value of the vertex, use the equation x= -b/2a  

y=3x^2-12x+16

so a is 3. b is -12. c is 16.

x=-b/2a   -(-12) / 2(3) =  12/6  =  2 

then you plug in that value as x in your equation.

3x^2-12x+16

=3(2)^2 -12(2)+16

=3(4) - 24 +16

=12-24+16

=4    4 is your y value of the vertex.

the vertex is (2,4)
