The formula for the surface area of a cube is 6a^2.

So the surface area for a cube with a side of 16 is 6 * 16^2 = 1536 inches cubed.

The surface area is 1,536 inches cubed.

The surface area of a cube with side s is given by 6*s^2. Here the side of the cube is given as 16 inches.

The surface area is 6*16^2

=> 6*256

=> 1536 square inches.

The required surface area of the cube is 1536 square inches.
