To find the disance between the two points use the distance formula:

`D= sqrt( (x_(1) -x_(2))^2 +(y_(1)- y_(2))^2)`

Now substitute the values:

`D= sqrt((0,9- (-4.7)) ^2 + (7.4 - 5.4)^2)`

`D=sqrt((5.6)^2 + (2)^2)`

`D=sqrt((31.36) + (4))`

`D= sqrt(35.36)`

Ans:

To three decimal places the answer is 5.946 and

Actual answer is `sqrt35.36`  (can't be simplified)
