Photosynthesis is a process where in a plant is capable of converting the light energy into chemical energy through series of chemical reaction. With the use of carbon dioxide and water, glucose is formed. The chemical equation for photosynthesis can be written as:

Carbon dioxide + water + light -> glucose + oxygen

6 CO2 + 6 H2O + light -> C6H12O6 + 6 O2

What is the connection? Starch is formed from series of glucose units joined by glycosidic bonds. As the plants continue to produce glucose, starch continuously is accumulating thus increasing the energy storage of plants which is available for consumption by other organisms.
