Your question is related to Physics, being a physics teacher also I will answer your questios:

When light travels from one medium to another medium of different   density the speed(velocity) of the light changes (due to chnage in density) and because of which the pattern of wave propogation also changes i.e. wave length changes. The frequency remains same to keep the equation:- [Velocity=Frequency * Wavelength ] balenced.
