Ewan makes chessboards from wood. Each board has 3 different kinds of wood.

He has 5 kinds of wood in his workshop: maple, cherry, walnut, poplar, and birch. How many different types of chessboards can he make?

Ewan has 5 kinds of woods and each chess board requires 3 different kinds of woods.

Using them the number of different kinds of chess boards that can be made is C(5, 3)

= `(5!)/(3!*(5 - 3)!)`

=> `(5!)/(3!*2!)`

=> `(5*4)/2`

=> 10

**Ewan can make 10 different types of chess boards.**
