Evaluate.

`5^2-2(4-3)`

 

5to the second power-2(4-3). Show as much work as possible.Im a 55 year old mom trying to help her adhd child learn this.  I never was good at math

`5^2-2(4-3)`

To evaluate, apply the order of operation known as PEMDAS.

So, do the operation inside the parenthesis first.

Since 4-3=1, then the expression becomes:

`=5^2-2*1`

Next, do the operation indicated by the given exponent.

`=25-2*1`

Notice that the remaining operations are subtraction and multiplication. Since multiplication comes before subtraction in PEMDAS, the next step is to multiply 2 and 1.

`=25-2`

And then, subtract.

`=23`

Hence, `5^2-2(4-3)=23` .

`5^2-8+6  `

Following PEMDAS do the exponent next

25-8+6

17+6

=23
