Let the number of students be N. When 250 bananas are equally distributed among N students each of them gets twice as many bananas than if the bananas had been distributed among N + 25 students. This gives:

`250/N = 2*(250/(N + 25))`

=> N + 25 = 2N

=> N = 25

There are a total of 25 students.
