Study of lines of force of the magnetic field due to electric current in a circular coil reveals that if the current flows in the coil in the clockwise direction, facing the experimenter, then that face of the coil will act as south pole. If the current in the coil facing the experimenter flows in anticlockwise direction then that face of the coil will behave like the north pole.

In the given circular copper coil, current enters from the battery into the coil from beneath, and leaves the coil from the topmost end. Thus direction of flow of current in the face facing the bar magnet (as viewed from the side of the magnet) is anticlockwise. Hence that face will behave like a north pole. As the bar magnet also has its north pole towards the coil, the magnet will be repelled away. Therefore, the correct answer is option C).
