Gallbladder removal should not affect the results of a fat malabsorption test. The body absorbs fat by using enzymes made by the pancreas, bile from the gallbladder, and the function of the small intestine. The liver is the organ that produces the bile, but it is stored in the gallbladder and released from the gallbladder. When you have your gallbladder removed, the live continues to produce bile and takes over the gallbladder's job of releasing bile. Therefore, gallbladder removal should not affect fat absorbtion and should not impact fat malabsorption tests.
