Do you identify with Tom from "Contents of the Dead Man's Pocket"? Explain why or why not?

Of course, different people would answer this question very differently so you should think some about your own personality and how it compares to his.
To me, the main characteristic of Tom in this story is that he is really dedicated to his job above all else. He is willing to let his wife go out without him (must be a bit lonely for her) and he is willing to risk his life trying to save the results of his work. So, are you someone who is or could be that dedicated to your work?
For me, there's no way. I quit my job as a full-time teacher to teach part-time and take care of my kids. My personality is not that of a person who could take work as seriously as Tom does.
