I do not understand how to solve this theoretical yield problem.. Can anyone kindly help??

Si + 2 Cl2 = SiCl4

Given that the silicon is 92% pure, calculate the theoretical yield percentage if 1.0 t of impure silicon produces 2.33 t of silicon (IV) chloride.

Molar mass of Si = 28.0855

Molar Mass of Cl = 35.453

Molar Mass of SiCl4 = 28.0855+4*35.453 = 169.8975

It mean that 28.0855 ton of pure Silicon produces 169.8975 ton of SiCl4 at 100% yield therefore 1.0 ton of Silicon will produce 169.8975/28.0855 ton = 6.0493 ton of SiCl4

For 92% pure Silicon will produce 0.92*6.0493 = 5.565 ton of SiCl4 at 100% yield

If 1 ton of 92% pure Si produces 2.33 ton of SiCl4 than the theoretical yield is equal to 2.33/5.565 i.e. 41.86%
