Do cats lose a life every time they don't land on their feet?

The whole nine lives thing is merely superstition. Cats have an extraordinary ability to land on their feet unless they fall from a high but not high enough place. If a cat doesn't land on its feet in a big fall, odds are it will be toast -- and once toast, always toast.
Go to the link below for a great explanation of how cats can survive falls that would kill most animals!
