Did Zenobia contradict herself?

Her stance on womanhood was that women didn't need men to be happy and complete; and, she seemed to be completely against the tradition role of women. But, then she falls for a misogynist and let her devotion/love for him go against everything she believed. She let a man decide her fate.

What do you guys think?
