The four humors were used as a basis  for medical diagnosis in Medieval Times. Shakespeare would have been familiar with this idea. Examine the conversations between the Doctor and the Gentlewoman and the Doctor and Macbeth. Look closely at the doctor's diagnosis of Lady Macbeth. To explain how this contributes to different emotions look at the final outcome of Lady Macbeth's actions.
