We have 7 boys and 5 girls in our group. That means from a possible 12 people we have to select 5 for the debate group. Since we don't have any conditions in the selection we can directly choose 5 from 12.

Ways to select 5 from 12

`= ^12C_5`

`= 792`

So there are 792 ways to select 5 students from the group of boys and girls.
