Rowing force of Barbra = 36N

Rowing force of Marga = 40N

Angle of Barbra's force with that of Marga = 54 deg

We determine the components of the two forces in the Marga's rowing direction and the direction perpendicular to it as under:

Total force in Marga's rowing direction = 36+40cos(54) = 61.16N

Total force in direction perpendicular to Marga's direction = 0+40sin(54) = 29.12N

Resultant force = sqrt(61.16^2 + 29.12^2) = 67.74N

Resultant direction = tan-1(29.12/61.16) = 25.46 deg with original direction of Marga
