In crispin and the cross of lead how did astas son become the object of a hue and cry?

he became a heu and cry because he was lord furnival's son and he didnt know that but aycliffe did. lady furnival wanted the land and since aycliffe was her kin she told him to kill crispin so that she can be the only person i charge and no one in her way.
