On a coordinate plane x=12ft and y=8 ft,there is a golf ball at point(2.5,2)and the hole is at(9.5,2)We want to bank the ball off the side wall at point(x,y). whats(x,y)?

if looking at the graph it will hit the top wall

The horizontal midpoint between the golf ball and the hole is (y1+y2)/2 = (2.5+9.5)/2 = 12/2 = 6.  This will be the x-coordinate of the banking point.

Since the "wall" is y=8, the y-coordinate will be 8.

Therefore the banking point is (6,8).

The graph below illustrates this point.  (equations found using slope-intercept formula)
