The number `(54)_8` is in base 8. It has to be converted to the equivalent number in base 3.

`54_8` = 5*8 + 4 = `44_10`

Numbers in base 3 are made up of the digits 0, 1 and 2.

Express 44 as a sum of powers of 3.

`44_10` = 1*27 + 1*9 + 2*3 + 2*1

`44_10 = 1122_3`

The number `54_8` is equivalent to `1122_3`
