The theme of maturation is usually one that is reserved for youths who mature into worthy adults. Dante and Odysseus are already adults when their journeys begin, Odysseus to reach home after the Trojan war and Dante to reach a return to life after his journey through under regions. Yet, if you must apply a maturation theme, you might say that Odysseus matured in his strength to withstand temptations and inducements while Dante matured in the way of avoiding the sin of failing to make right choices.
