Colors are often used symbolically in story telling, both visual and literary. Color meanings can differ according to cultural meanings. The color blue is associated with different emotions depending on what shade of blue is being used. Pale blue denotes innocence and childhood, or the early innocent stages of romance. Bright medium blue is associated with law and order (police, military), with routine and strength. Navy or deep blue is a sophisticated color, often used to portray wealth, power and government. Blue is also considered a soothing, calming color, esecially the paler shades. Turquoise is an unusual color and often denotes flamboyance or artistic temperaments.
